T-minus 31 days

Till this chick has to sport a bathing suit AHHHHHHHHHHHH. I feel a pit in my belly.. March 1st is fast approaching, see Rob and I are not jetting away to an exotic island filled with tropical drinks to distract me of the mental image of what I truly look like in my suit.. OH no I will be strutting this post baby body across the pool deck of the Tillsonburg Community Center, Lovely and I are signed up for mom and tots swimming. I loved this experience when I did it on mat leave with the toad, however something has changed since then.. There are WAY more bikini's at mom's and tots. The toad swimming's on Tuesday nights and they have a mom's and tots program prior to his swim, I was shocked to see not one but maybe 6 mom's in bikini.. I of course panicked and thought my god I never got back in a bikini after having toad let alone after Lovely. After the first time I noticed this I ran up to the observation deck (yeah that is right well your in your suit other parents and anyone at the complex get to watch you jiggle your ass across the deck from above) and told Rob of my concern, he in his sweet way informed me that all the parents know that the observation glass adds 15 pounds to you :) Thanks Honey but that is not going to cut it. So last night after a long weekend of skating, cleaning and family fun I got this big butt on the treadmill for the first time since Lovely was born. It felt great! I don't think I want to put that bathing suit on yet, but what if I watch what I eat and exercise maybe just maybe I will feel better on March 1st with those playmates at swimming...

Saturday Date

I remember when I first started to date my hubby, he would always plan these awesome and very sweet dates mostly on Saturdays. I would get dressed up and we would enjoy great food, some drinks and mostly tons of laughs. He was always a gentleman and sweet. After two kids and almost 10 years we don’t get to do many dates anymore, but today I was lucky enough to get asked out.. A Saturday date wow I am spoiled.  This date was going to be a good one I just knew it!! I had all the pre date excitement will we laugh, will the food be good, will the movie be good, will he be a gentleman. So my date and I got dressed he in his batman pj’s and I in my hubby’s comfy pants. We made our food of choice and that was some of the best popcorn ever. He opened my drink just like a gentleman, and an apple juice drink box straw can be hard when your three…. the two of us got in our spots on the couch and pressed play. As the movie began my dashing date handed me individual piece of popcorn before helping himself to some. My sweet boy was being so kind. He talked me through the movie incase I was having trouble following the story( he is the Toy Story expert in our house). We sat close together, we held hands at times and most of all we laughed A LOT.. and that to me will always make a great date! And I still feel very spoiled …. I hope you all get to have your own special Saturday Date night today!

It's just frozen water

Cathy, Rob, Jax and I well we are officially a true Canadian family :) we have a rink in our backyard! And to tell you the honest truth I could have had one or not but man oh man I would NEVER go with out one now. Last Night instead of the same old same old hubby, toad and I in front of the tv pre bed we were out on our rink laughing, skating and EXERCISING.. My awesome Mother in Law came over new skates in hand and we plugged in those spot lights, got our skates on and PLAYED. What an awesome night!
This rink is just frozen water in our backyard but it has done so much for me and filling up my heart. When I sit at our little bench to lace up those skates I look around and feel blessed so much so I tear up almost each time. See this little dream of my hubby’s to have a rink has changed my winters forever and filled our home with love.  Last weekend we got to see both our father’s skate with our son. When a grandpa or papa skates with their grandson you can feel the joy. It fills the rink. Then as I watched my father in law, his son and his son skate I was reminded of how a little bit of frozen water was playing such a huge part in an amazing memory for our son and those two grown men.
This rink has allowed my mom the little bluebird to skate with her grandson and share a joy that was her as a kid. My grandparents came and watched their daughter skate on this frozen water with their granddaughter and her son. And so those may drive by and think oh they have a rink what a lot of work or wonder if they like it and I would say if you have room build it. I will never forget this year in our back yard on the little rink that could :)

Given Up On Life

Earlier this week I was at our local yummy Pita joint grabbing some lunch, as I was leaving with my awesome Turkey Club pita I saw a clown car of teenage girls heading back to school. I thought to myself my god they have totally given up on life at 16 out with sweatpants on, oversized sweatshirt and hair pulled back in a headband looking like it has not been washed or done in days. My god we would have rather die in highschool then go out looking like that. As I was thinking how they could leave the house looking that way I caught a glimpse of myself in the rearview mirror.. YIKES I was one of them I had my hair pulled back in a clip (not washed for at least 1 days) and my make up was left over from the day before.. After that I continued to check myself out. YIKES paint stained sweatshirt (KL I think the room will look ten times better once painted) WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO ME.. I flipped my head up looking long and hard at myself in the mirror again ohhhhh wait a second I am not at all like those Highschool girls who had given up on life.. no cuss I was 20 years older than them and it showed that day in my sleep deprived eyes, and 40 if not more pounds heavier than them I am. But see I have not given up on Life Nope not at all No I have 2 kids! YEPPER those little Lindsay Lohan should take a long look at me.. I am a walking birth control ad.   I use to be pulled together, I use to think for the love of god women did you not notice your kid puke on your shoulder before you left the house? But now I know she did notice she just didn’t have time to change. I will work at a New Years Resolutions 1) Get out of the sweats back into the jeans (even if they are still my Mat jeans) and 2) for the love of all things holy take a shower each day you dirty old lady…
